Booking Classes To Visit
You are always welcomed to bring a class to visit the Library - whether it is for a CCLS aligned lesson, a book talk or to have students read independently while checking books in (or out) of the Library. Please fill out the online form on Google Drive adding details as for the purpose of your visit. You will receive a response within 24 hours of sending it. Please keep in mind that last minute visits to the Library may not be possible. Our beautiful Campus Library is reserved for events sometimes months in advance. Quite a few teachers reserve periods weeks in advance as well. Although all provisions are made to optimize class visits, using the Library Visit Request Form is the most likely option to secure a visit.
Shout Out to Mr. Curtis!
Thanking Mr. Curtis for his book donations to the Library. He donated 4 copies of "Black Panther: The Young Prince" and 1 copy of "The Last Kids on Earth". His contribution to the Library in this regard is what Richard R. Green Campus Library welcomes and honors. Come check any of the books out! If you would like to donate books to the Library that are hard covered and in mint condition, please bring books to the Library in Rm 152. On behalf of all students in the building, your donations are mattered.
Lessons for Books
Are you using a mentor text for TC Writing lessons? Is there a particular book that you are using to demonstrate close reading skills for your differentiated groups or reading clubs? Are you thinking of an author study you would like to start? Send me an email with the title and author of the book(s) and I will send you lesson plans, videos, worksheets (when available) to support comprehension. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ALL TEACHERS. Please do not hesitate. The goal is to increase comprehension. There are many resources available in the Library to also support instruction. Take advantage of all. These resources are also available to support you.
Teacher Check Outs
*Special Provisions*
Yes! Teachers and Staff can also check books out of the Library too! Mrs. Neyra and Mr. Licata not only ordered Professional Development books but they also have a designated area of the Library where books they suggest students to read are on display. Teachers/Staff can borrow up to two books at a time and have a 2 week loan period to read them! If you are wondering what your students are reading or want to simply check out a book that YOU are interested in, feel free to stop by the Library to browse the shelves. The Campus Library is yours as well.
Welcoming Suggestions
Someone wise once said, "The Library is the heart of a school." If that is the case, then the classroom must be the brain and soul. Please feel free to stop by the Library to discuss the vision and make suggestions as for what you would like to see within this space in the future. Feel free to email me also. I am a teacher. Your thoughts as well as your suggestions matter to me, but more importantly, to our students. Your support will further develop the Richard R. Green Campus Library. Your voice is always welcome.
